Lack of skilled technicians in the clean energy sector in Africa.

The clean energy sector presents significant opportunities for job creation and sustainable livelihoods for the youth in Africa. The increasing prevalence of stand-alone energy systems across the continent has resulted in a rising demand for skilled technicians capable of managing installations, as well as providing ongoing maintenance and repair services.

While many companies prefer to utilize a network of local technicians who are employed on a part-time or commission basis, there is currently a shortage of adequately skilled technicians in remote areas.

At Klean NRG, we firmly believe that a critical factor for the success of rural electrification projects is the recruitment of a local team of technicians, with a particular focus on youth and women. We are committed to investing in training programs to address gaps in both soft and technical skills.

This week, we commenced a training initiative across eight districts in Rwanda, actively recruiting and selecting candidates who are eager to develop their skills to become part of our future team of 400 skilled technicians. Our objective is to employ these technicians and facilitate the installation of up to 13,000 solar-powered kits in the southern and western regions of Rwanda within the next six months.
